Rating: 4/5 – Classic Children’s Literature

Another book read with my oldest son, and unlike many others we have read, it didn’t precisely live up to my remembrances. Compared against The Lord of Rings, the world and lore are significantly less developed and much more whimsical. Given the tone of the novel this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but the contrast with the later books was at times dissonant.

Still, an enjoyable read and a classic of children’s literature that everyone should experience at least once.
